Here are 10 colorful facts about crayons that you didn’t know, that you didn’t need to know:

  1. Crayons used to be scented
    1. Brown used to smell like chocolate
    2. Red was cherry
    3. Black was licorice
    4. This was all the way up to 1995
    5. Parents were worried that their kids would eat them
  2. Crayola makes 3 Billion crayons a year
    1. That’s enough to circle the earth 6 times
    2. Of those 3 billion, blue is the most popular color
    3. 226 Billion have been produced to date
  3. They used to be sold door-to-door
    1. This was in 1903
